Things I use

Where's that from?

The question I get most. So here's the list — things around the flat, the studio, the plant shelves and my travel bag that I bought myself and kept. I say when something didn't work out, too.

Some links on this site are affiliate links — if you buy through them I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. I only list things I bought myself and kept, and it never changes what I write about.

The paperback I finished in a day

Worth the hype, mostly. The middle sags and then it earns it back. I've already lent it out twice and got it back once.

The weekend tote

Fits two days of clothes and a sketchbook. Canvas, one inside pocket, no structure at all — which is either the charm or the flaw depending on how you pack.

Self-watering planters

The reason I can leave for a long weekend without begging someone to come water things. I use the 8-inch ones for the pothos and the ferns. Not for succulents — I killed two learning that.

A jar of speckled white glaze

Speckled white glaze

Glaze test no. 4, the keeper. Goes creamy over stoneware and picks up little iron flecks in the firing. Two coats, not three — three goes muddy.
